Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm alum Maia Kobabe (e/em/eir) released eir graphic novel memoir “Gender Queer” in 2019, which shares eir journey about what it means to be nonbinary and asexual.
In 2020, the memoir won an Alex Award as a book with “special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18.” In 2021, it became one of the most banned books in U.S. schools.
