Sierra Waldorf School students are in the news for their theater production honoring American farm labor leaders and civil rights activists Dolores Huerta and César Chávez.

The play -- “¡Sí Se Puede, Amigos!”-- was led by eight seventh-graders who produced the play, rewrote the script, directed, stage-managed, designed costumes and sets, provided music and props, and practiced and performed leading roles.

March 31 is National Farm Workers Day and it’s César Chávez Day, a federal commemorative holiday proclaimed by President Barack Obama in 2014. The life and work of Dolores Huerta is observed as an official holiday in Arizona, California, and Washington on April 10, Huerta’s birthday, as Dolores Huerta Day.
