In June, AWSNA celebrated the retirement of Ronald Koetzsch and Anne Riegel-Koetzsch, along with 29 years of Renewal: A Journal for Waldorf Education. Anne Riegel-Koetzsch studied Philosophy and Art at Oberlin College. She later became a copy editor for a Wall Street firm (yes from Wall Street to Waldorf Street!). She also held positions at Shambhala Publications; Anthroposophic Press; and others.

Anne completed graduate studies in Studio Art and the History of Art at Hunter College in New York. She traveled and studied across Europe, Central Asia, India, and Japan where she spent two years studying Japanese language and culture and art history.

In 1995 Anne became Chief Copy Editor for Renewal, and in 2007 she became the Artistic Director.

During Anne’s 25 years of service she demonstrated love, beauty, aesthetic, and an unbelievable editing eye. Renewal is a testament to her care and the seriousness with which she took her role in presenting Waldorf education to the world.

Dr. Ronald Koetzsch is a professional stand-up comedian. In the past twenty years, Ronald has given over 500 performances in North America, New Zealand, Australia and at the great hall of the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland.

You may not be aware of Ronald’s academic pedigree. He received his undergrad from Princeton and an MA and PhD from Harvard. He taught at Boston University, Dartmouth College, and Hampden-Sydney College of Virginia, and Rudolf Steiner College.

He was a senior instructor for the Outward Bound School and also a writer and columnist for East West Journal. At the request of Henry Barnes, Ronald became the founding Editor in Chief of Renewal 29 years ago.

The board of trustees has prepared a tribute in the form of a Board Resolution here
