“The promotion of social, emotional, and academic learning is not a shifting educational fad; it is the substance of education itself.”

The Aspen Institute National Commission on Social, Emotional and Academic Development has released a new report: From a Nation of Risk to a Nation of Hope, which proposes a research agenda to support whole-child development across learning settings.

Drawing on input from educators, scientists, families and policy makers, the report offers specific actions to fundamentally shift how we teach children. The report, in particular, focuses on social emotional learning and character development as skills to be taught alongside academics.
