Pedagogical Chair
Opening Statement
The Pedagogical Chair, working out of a model of servant leadership, works closely with faculty, addresses concerns as they arise or directs them through the proper channels, helping information to flow smoothly and ensures joint forums of conversation. As the administrative arm of the faculty, this person helps to ensure the implementation of the Waldorf curriculum through oversight of faculty orientation, mentoring and evaluation; review and refinement of programming; development and coordination of schedules;
and establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures.
About
Prairie Hill Waldorf School is situated on fourteen acres of land including gardens, fields, wetlands and small woods located in the beautiful Lake Country of Delafield between Milwaukee and Madison, WI. Also available in the area are a Lifeways Training Center, the Great Lakes Teacher Training program, anthroposophical medicine and a pharmacy, and many other opportunities. Essential Job Duties
Duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Organizational Leadership
– Collaborate with the Circle of Colleagues, Administrator, and the Board of Trustees with primary responsibility for leadership of the faculty.
2. Faculty support and Teacher Professional Development (TPD)
– Steward all pedagogical aspects of the school, including all matters relating to faculty, curriculum, parent education, and community engagement.
– Discern and disseminate ongoing developments in curriculum and pedagogy in both Waldorf education and the larger educational community.
– Nurture the spiritual life of the school, and inspire the active strength of each member of the community. (bring study)
– Visit and observe classrooms and help them reflect on their teaching.
– Intervenes when there are issues of accountability of the faculty in regard to policies and philosophy of the school.
– Co-facilitates classroom crisis management as a team member.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
– BA in education or related field
– Waldorf teacher training & Waldorf teaching experience, preferred
– Demonstrated team management style that fosters collaborative interactions with administrators, faculty, parents, and other internal and external constituents
– Excellent interpersonal, organizational, coordination and communication skills
– Must be innovative, creative and resourceful
– General office and computer skills with ability to work independently
– Proven ability with a willingness for public speaking
