Opening Statement

The Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor is seeking a Lower Grades Class Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. We are looking for an educator who values authentic relationships, collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work.

About

Our Pedagogical Vision

As a community, we continually hold the question of how best to meet the children of today through a pedagogy that upholds the dignity of each human being—and what we must reimagine in order to do so. Supporting our teachers is central to this work. We are actively re-envisioning how to support class teachers through schedules, collaboration time, mentoring, and other structural supports, recognizing both the demands of the role and the vital importance of collegial relationships.

Teachers at our school are supported through mentoring, strong peer collaboration, and a healthy, responsive administrative team.

About Our School

The Steiner School of Ann Arbor serves students from early childhood through twelfth grade and is made up of a dedicated faculty and staff committed to strong pedagogy and community life. Our program includes:

A rich, developmentally aligned curriculum

A growing and strong student support program

Spanish and German World Languages (Grades 1–12)

Robust fine and practical arts and instrumental music offerings

Movement classes throughout the school

We celebrate a wide range of Waldorf festivals and world cultural and religious holidays, including Diwali, Lunar New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and Eid. Faculty engage in ongoing study and collaborative work both by level and across the whole school. We have a strong and active College and have partnered with Alma Partners to deepen our work in diversity, equity, and inclusion in recent years.

Our Campus & Community

Our Lower School Campus sits on 12 wooded and grassy acres and serves Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our High School campus is a short drive away. Both campuses feature natural areas, gardens, sports facilities, and shared work and meeting spaces for faculty and staff.

Located in the greater Ann Arbor area, our school benefits from the richness of a university town with a small-town feel. We are close to the Anthroposophical Society, a biodynamic farm, and an Anthroposophical health center. Detroit’s cultural offerings are just forty minutes away, and Michigan’s Great Lakes and watersheds provide abundant opportunities for field trips and recreation.
