Opening Statement

Sweet Clover Nursery of Orchard Valley Waldorf School is seeking a full-time class teacher for our Toddler classes, ages 1-3 years old.

Sweet Clover Nursery provides infants and toddlers ages 3 months to 3 years with warm, nurturing care from a staff led by Waldorf-trained, Early Childhood professionals. Loving caregivers encourage children to develop their sense of self in a caring and rhythmic environment designed to nurture and support their continued unfolding. Children are actively engaged in all aspects of their daily routine and care by respectful caregivers. A great deal of time is spent outdoors, serving to strengthen children’s growing bodies. Days include creative free play inside and out, wholesome organic morning snack, storytelling, nursery rhymes, and singing!

We are seeking candidates who are warm, nurturing, kind, and patient. Must be willing to sit on the ground, sing with children, and play outside in all weather. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be excited to come to work, and have a love of young children. Experience in Waldorf early childhood education is desired, but not required. We are willing to train candidates interested in learning specific philosophies and methods of working with children. Organization, productive communication and a strong desire to work collaboratively are essential to this position.

Orchard Valley Waldorf School is a vibrant, rural school set on two beautiful campuses in the heart of Vermont, with close proximity to Montpelier, Vermont’s capital. It’s a small town with big city amenities – a lively arts and music scene, great restaurants, and an active outdoor community.

Orchard Valley Waldorf School Faculty are warm, collaborative and curious about the world around them.  We provide education and care for children from infancy through Grade 8 and currently have 120 students in our programs, which include three Infant-3 year old classrooms, two Pre-K classrooms, one Kindergarten, and fixed combined Grades classes: ½, ¾, ⅚, and ⅞.   

Orchard Valley Waldorf School is an AWSNA Associate member and WECAN member school. Our birth through PreK programs are Vermont DCF Child Development Division Center Based Child Care Programs. Orchard Valley Waldorf School is an Approved Independent School and Pre-Qualified Preschool program by the Vermont Agency of Education.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be qualified as Teacher or Teacher Associate by the CBCCPP or be able to reach qualification status within a year
  • Waldorf Teaching Certification and at minimum, 12 months of Waldorf classroom teaching experience OR commensurate experience and willingness to begin Waldorf Training upon hire 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with parents and caregivers and offer parent education on an ongoing basis. 
  • Experience using Google Suite and willingness to learn educational software as is relevant to the job
  • The position involves working in and out of doors. Must be able to sit, stand, squat, reach, bend, lift up to 40 pounds, and walk over uneven terrain. Must be able to work outside in changing weather conditions; i.e., rain, snow, wind and/or cold. 
  • Desire and expectation to be working in relationship to the land

  • This is a full-time, year-round salaried position
  • Benefits include health benefit stipend, PTO, tuition remission, and two weeks vacation after the first year of employment
  • Base salary of $43,826 with additional compensation based on education and experience
