Opening Statement

The Lead Kindergarten Teacher is a core member of the Trillium Waldorf School Faculty and is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate kindergarten program in alignment with the philosophy and purpose of Waldorf education. This role holds responsibility for nurturing a warm, rhythmic, and secure learning environment for young children while working collaboratively with colleagues and families to support healthy early childhood development and a strong school community.

Trillium Waldorf School is an independent Waldorf school serving students from Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Located in Guelph, Ontario, the school is situated on a three‑acre site with access to conservation lands and outdoor learning environments. Essential Job Duties

Core Responsibilities

● Plan and deliver the kindergarten curriculum in accordance with Waldorf early childhood pedagogy

● Create and maintain a warm, gentle, and well‑ordered classroom environment that supports healthy development

● Observe, document, and support the developmental needs of individual children within the class

Student / Program Responsibilities

● Lead daily rhythms including storytelling, circle work, artistic activities, outdoor play, and practical life experiences

● Integrate music, movement, puppetry, and seasonal festivals into the kindergarten program

● Support smooth transitions for children entering and moving through the kindergarten years

Coordination, Leadership, or Administrative Responsibilities

● Participate in faculty collaboration and mentoring structures as appropriate

● Contribute to school‑wide initiatives, festivals, and early childhood programming discussions

Faculty & School Life Participation

● Participate fully as a faculty member, including attendance at weekly Faculty and Pedagogical Meetings, which may occur after instructional hours

● Participate in two school committees

● Support school festivals, events, and occasional weekend activities

● Collaborate closely with colleagues to support a healthy school culture and shared pedagogical life

Qualifications

Required

● Waldorf Teacher Education certification

● Minimum of a university bachelor’s degree and two years of teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

● Experience working with young children in a group setting

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills; approachable for students, parents, and colleagues

● Proven ability to work collaboratively within a community environment

● Recent Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

● Current CPR–First Aid certification

Preferred / Assets

● Musical and artistic abilities, including experience with storytelling, puppetry, and circle work

● Experience supporting and communicating effectively with parents

● Demonstrated warmth, patience, and dedication to Waldorf early childhood education

Employment Details

Compensation is determined based on years of experience and the school’s approved salary grid, with a salary range of $48,000–$59,000. Eligible positions include participation in the school’s benefits plan and prorated tuition remission for the children of the successful applicant, in accordance with school policy.
