Ashwood Waldorf School is seeking a warm, experienced, Waldorf-trained Lead Early Childhood Teacher to join our thriving early childhood program beginning Fall 2026.
About
Celebrating our 40th year, Ashwood serves children from parent–child through grade 8 on a beautiful 30-acre hillside campus overlooking the Camden Hills. Our dedicated early childhood building features sun-filled classrooms, direct access to woods and trails, and a robust all-weather outdoor program.
Our Program
Ashwood’s early childhood offerings include parent–child, nursery, and two mixed-age kindergarten classes. Our approach emphasizes rhythm, warmth, imaginative play, outdoor exploration, handwork, and the protection of healthy sensory development.
Our School Culture
Ashwood is known for its harmonious and stable faculty, strong mentoring, and deeply supportive parent body. We offer an in-house mentoring program, regular master teacher visits, and opportunities for professional development. Our region is home to several anthroposophical study groups.

Rockport, Camden, and Rockland offer a rich cultural life, working harbors, hiking, skiing, boating, and access to biodynamic farms. Acadia National Park is two hours north, and Portland and Bangor are 90 minutes away.

Qualifications
We Seek a Colleague Who Brings:
- Waldorf early childhood teacher training (completed or in progress)
- Experience working in a Waldorf Early Childhood classroom
- Warmth, presence, and an ability to guide young children with clarity and care
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Commitment to collaborative, mindful faculty work and to ongoing inner development
