Founded in 1980, Sunrise Waldorf School is situated on a stunning seven-acre campus in the Cowichan Valley, near Duncan, BC. Essential Job Duties
Sunrise is seeking a warm, caring and dynamic educator with positive classroom and behavior management practices, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to support students with a wide range of abilities and foster an inclusive environment where all students feel safe and welcome. Teachers at Sunrise are deeply committed to diversity, reconciliation, equity, and inclusion, creating a respectful and nurturing atmosphere for all learners.
In addition to teaching both the BC Ministry of Education and Waldorf curricula, responsibilities include:
• Creating comprehensive planning documents (annual, unit, and lesson plans), student assessment and reporting student progress
• Creating positive and inclusive learning spaces, including developing and maintaining IEPs
• Classroom preparation, and organization
• Participating in staff meetings and committee work
• Engaging with parents through meetings and regular communication
• Supervising duty, such as at lunch, recess and after school periods
• Pursuing ongoing professional development
• Participating in and supporting festivals, recitals, and field trips
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Education, a B.C. Teaching Certificate, Waldorf teacher training, and teaching experience in a Waldorf school.
Employment Details
Salary Range: $55,120 to $79,627 depending on qualifications and experience
Benefits: Extended health and dental benefits, GRRSP membership and tuition remission after probation
