Waldorf School of the Peninsula is seeking an experienced and dedicated Extended Care Lead Teacher and Camp Manager to lead and manage all aspects of our K- Grade 5 Extended Care Program, Seasonal Camps (Winter, February, and Spring Camps), and Summer Camp Program. This position is a key leadership role that ensures high-quality, engaging, and safe programs for students, families, and staff, aligning with WSP’s mission and values.

Waldorf School of the Peninsula (Preschool – Grade 12) is celebrating its 40th year of bringing Waldorf education to Northern California. Our school has two beautiful campuses: Nursery through grade 5 in Los Altos and a few miles away in Mountain View are grades 6-12. Essential Job Duties
Responsibilities
Program Development and Oversight
– Design, implement, and evaluate Extended Care, After School, and Camp Programs to meet the needs of students and families.
– Collaborate with pedagogical staff to develop enriching and engaging camp activities.
– Plan and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
– Coordinate program marketing, registration, and communications, including creating catalogs, brochures, advertisements, and website updates.
– Recruit program participants and respond to inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
Staff Management
– Recruit, train, and supervise program and camp staff, including extended care teachers, camp counselors, and volunteers.
– Maintain a substitute pool and coordinate coverage for absences.
– Provide ongoing staff training, delegate responsibilities, and ensure effective daily supervision of staff and students.
– Approve staff schedules, coordinate substitutes, and manage timesheets for payroll.
– Collaborate with the Preschool Extended Care Staff.
Daily Operations and Camps
– Oversee daily student transitions to Extended Care, ensuring a safe release to authorized adults.
– Plan and oversee camp schedules, staffing, and on-campus operations during camp sessions.
– Purchase and manage program and camp supplies.
– Monitor and address any accidents, injuries, or emergencies promptly to ensure the safety of all participants.
Financial Administration
– Collaborate with the business office to collect payments, process invoices, and address billing inquiries.
– Prepare financial reports and monitor revenue and expenses for all programs and camps.
Communication and Reporting
– Maintain accurate databases and provide regular reports to school leadership.
– Produce forms, letters, and communications to support program implementation.
– Share student observations with faculty to enhance participant experiences.
Additional Responsibilities
– Oversee 1st and 2nd-grade play assistants.
– Support staff and provide extended care during staff development days, professional training, and parent/teacher conferences.
– Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of programs and the school community.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
– Ability to sit, stand, and move as needed for various tasks.
– Light lifting (up to 10 pounds) is required occasionally.
– Work will involve outdoor activities in varied weather conditions.
Qualifications
Requirements and Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree preferred
– Experience in program development, childcare, or camp management (Waldorf experience is a plus).
– Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and team-focused.
– Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with parents, staff, and administrators.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google applications (Gmail, Sheets, Docs).
– Experience with budgeting and financial oversight is an asset.
Employment Details
This is a year round, hourly full-time position based in our Los Altos campus and the compensation range is $30 – $32 an hour. The schedule for this position will be in accordance with Extended Care and Camp hours.
