Aurora Waldorf School (AWS), a vibrant independent school nestled in West Falls, NY, is seeking a warm, visionary, and highly organized School Administrator to join our community. This is a unique leadership role at the heart of a thriving Waldorf school, serving children from early childhood through 8th grade.

The Administrator serves as the primary operational and administrative leader of the school, reporting to the Board of Trustees and working in close partnership with the Faculty Chair through the Aurora Leadership Circle (ALC). This role is central in ensuring strong, consistent communication and effective collaboration across all areas of school life—including faculty, staff, parents, and the broader community.
As the school’s key administrative figure, the Administrator facilitates day-to-day decision-making, upholds policies, ensures compliance with regulatory bodies, and provides a welcoming and stable presence for students, families, and staff.

Aurora Waldorf School, established in 1991, is guided by the core principles of Waldorf education. It is accredited by AWSNA and NYSAIS and is a member of WECAN. Located in Western New York, the surrounding fields, woods, streams, playgrounds, and gardens make up our largest classrooms, which host our students of all ages, in all weather, for daily play and outdoor learning. Essential Job Duties

Key Job Responsibilities:

Leadership & Governance
Co-lead the Aurora Leadership Circle alongside the Faculty Chair to guide daily operations.
Act as a non-voting member of the Board of Trustees; advise on legal, financial, and strategic matters.
Collaborate with the Board President and ALC to support governance, budget planning, and accreditation efforts.

Faculty & Staff Coordination
Support and evaluate faculty and administrative team members, including hiring, training, and reviews.
Attend weekly faculty and ALC meetings; cultivate collegial and cooperative working relationships.
Ensure smooth operation of all administrative functions within budgetary guidelines.

Parent & Community Engagement
Serve as the primary contact for non-pedagogical parent concerns.
Foster an open-door, solutions-oriented culture rooted in empathy and discretion.
Communicate policy updates and key school matters to the parent body.

External Relations & Compliance
Represent AWS to state and local agencies, AWSNA, NYSAIS, and the wider Waldorf community.
Oversee reporting, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate visits from mentors, insurance providers, and external organizations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced training in education or leadership is a plus.
Significant experience in Waldorf or progressive educational leadership strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and solve problems with clarity and diplomacy.
High level of organization, professionalism, and discretion.
Comfort with technology including Google Workspace, Zoom, and productivity tools.

Employment Details

Schedule & Compensation
Full-time, salaried, year-round position.
Hours: approximately 40 hours/week during the school year; reduced hours during July.
Some evening and weekend meetings required.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits included.
