Opening Statement
Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm in Santa Rosa, CA, is seeking an energetic High School colleague who finds joy in supporting adolescents in awakening to their potential in a social context. This person cultivates dignity and respect for others and the natural world and is interested in collaborating with adults to form new initiatives in Waldorf Education.
At Summerfield, each faculty member carries both a teaching and an administrative role, so that when faculty positions open, they involve a particular set of skills.
Essential Job Duties
This High School Faculty position would range from three quarters to full time for a colleague who has interest and experience in a mix of some (but not all!) of the following areas:
Teaching Opportunities
- Main Lessons in drama, humanities or class plays
- Practical Arts blocks in mechanics, woodworking, or metalworking
- Physical Education for a mixed age group of students
- Courses in our large Permaculture Garden
Student Life and Administrative Opportunities
- Plan and chaperone two outdoor trips a year together with a colleague.
- Serve as a student Mentor to support a mixed age group of students
- Coach student council to plan community-building events and assemblies
- Build the student ambassador program, and participate in enrollment events
- Collaborate with colleague to organize festival and orientation events
- Support ongoing transition to Google workspace
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a Waldorf High School colleague who has strong operational experience with students and teachers, as well as training and experience as a drama teacher.
Employment Details
The annual salary range is $68,685 – $91,821 for a full time position, depending on experience. We offer an excellent benefits package including medical and dental coverage, long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and 90% tuition remission for qualified students.
