About
The Garden School of Marietta combines the wonder of a forest school with a Waldorf-inspired curriculum for early childhood (2 years) through 8th grade. Our Head of School will spark the different aspects of our unique school while fostering growth and long-term strategy. Our Head of School will be an inspiring communicator who builds consensus and fosters collaboration. The Head of School will partner with the faculty to grow the values of a Waldorf-inspired curriculum in a forest school.
The Garden School of Marietta is an associate member of WECAN for our Early Childhood program
Essential Job Duties
The Garden School of Marietta Head of School will build relationships with parents and families, students, faculty and the Board of Trustees. The Head of School will also engage with donors and the outside community leading to a robust development strategy.
Specific areas of focus include:
- Exuding leadership, collaboration and inclusion.
- Development and communication of a long-range strategic plan in partnership with the Board of Trustees, faculty and community.
- Creation of a work environment which fosters teamwork, communication and growth.
- Continuously drives efforts to sustain and grow enrollment.
- Sponsors and oversees ongoing marketing and development programs.
- Attends Board of Trustees meeting and represents Administration. Reports from all school groups so informed and unbiased decisions are made.
- Actively works to maintain GAC certification.
- Works closely with the Director of Faculty to ensure student needs are being met and takes steps to outline the level of support the school can proved on a case-by-case basis.
- Partners with the Board Treasurer and outside accounting firm to develop a financially sound budget maintaining complete and sustainable practices.
- Develops strong relationships with all members of the community, understanding and responding to their concerns.
- Engages with the Collegial Committee to develop responses and schoolwide improvements in academics, behavior and social/emotional health.
- Is present and available on a daily basis in the school.
Qualifications
The successful Head of School will be a highly competent educational leader with experience in the independent school setting. This includes:
A Masters Degree in Education, 15 hours of administrative training preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to recruit, hire, grow and retain a talented and focused faculty.
Proven capability to manage and improve the operational and financial complexities of the school.’
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and strategic planning.
Skilled in communicating and inspiring all members of the community while focusing on a shared vision.
An understanding of Waldorf education and philosophy.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
