Opening Statement
Aurora Waldorf School is currently accepting applications for the full-time First-Grade Teacher position. This position commences on July 1, 2026. The teacher stays with the students for multiple years, moving through the grades.
About
Aurora Waldorf School integrates academics with artistic endeavors, practical skill-building, and numerous opportunities for movement every day. Guided by the principles of Waldorf Education, our curriculum aligns with the evolving stages of child development. Children learn reverence for nature by spending daily learning time outside on our 13-acre wooded campus. Weaving global and local cultures and traditions into the curriculum, AWS welcomes a diverse community of students and teachers.
We seek dedicated, enthusiastic teachers and staff willing to work collaboratively and strive toward inspired excellence. We offer a full, well-rounded Waldorf education from Pre-K through eighth grade and are accredited by AWSNA and NYSAIS and are full members of WECAN.
We aim to continually strengthen our faculty and staff through comprehensive benefits packages, mentoring, subsidized training, and networking opportunities.
Our local community offers a robust anthroposophical base with study groups, teacher education opportunities, and festival activities. Local farms, alternative health modalities, farmer’s markets, small towns, suburban neighborhoods, and urban dwellings are all within a 20-minute drive of the school.
Inclusivity and diversity are core values at AWS and we celebrate them. We are committed to the active practice of diversity, equity, and inclusivity principles in our curriculum, enrollment, community, and festival life. We are actively anti-racist in our approach to pedagogy, policies, decisions, and structure. We believe that diversity enriches our learning and work environments by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand the world, identify challenges, and discover and deliver solutions – thereby allowing our entire community to thrive. AWS is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in admissions, hiring, or employment practices on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, marital status, age, or other statuses protected by law.
