Opening Statement

San Francisco Waldorf School Seeks First Grade Class Teacher
Full-Time, 1.0 FTE | Starting August 2025

San Francisco Waldorf School is seeking a First Grade Class Teacher to join our faculty beginning in August 2025. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), exempt position.

The rising first grade is a healthy and eager group of 22+ children, supported by a warm and enthusiastic parent body who are excited to begin their journey in Waldorf education. We are looking for a loving, committed teacher with a genuine interest in Waldorf pedagogy to help form this new class and guide them through the early grades.

Beyond academic qualifications, we are seeking a teacher who brings the first grade curriculum to life through imaginative storytelling, artistic expression, and developmentally rich experiences. The ideal candidate will bring warmth to relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, and will be enthusiastic about leading families—both those new to and familiar with Waldorf education—through this transformative beginning.

About

Our faculty is a vibrant mix of experienced and newer teachers, many of whom have relocated to San Francisco from around the world. We are united by a shared commitment to Waldorf education and the core indications of Rudolf Steiner. In addition to main lesson, our students receive specialist instruction in handwork, developmental movement, Spanish, Mandarin, and eurythmy.

If you are considering a move, know that San Francisco is a beautiful and culturally rich city. Our Grade School campus is located in the scenic Pacific Heights neighborhood, just minutes from the Presidio and Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco Waldorf School is a well-established preschool–12th grade institution with a strong financial foundation, fully accredited by both AWSNA and WASC.

Our dedicated faculty is supported by experienced mentors, caring administrative staff, a collaborative educational support team, and an engaged Board of Trustees. We value warm relationships with families and strong collegiality among faculty. Diversity is welcomed and celebrated—our school community is enriched by the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of our teachers, students, and families.
