Cedarwood Waldorf School is seeking an Educational Support Instructor
The Educational Support Instructor works collaboratively with the Educational Support Team to provide individual and small group learning support to students. The primary duty of this position is to support Daily Lesson teachers with behavior management. This position is academic year, starting August 17th.

Cedarwood is located in SW Portland, an area known for its natural beauty, abundance of outdoor recreational activities and thriving foodie culture. Portland has a robust Waldorf community, with six schools, a Waldorf high school, many home pre-schools, anthroposophical doctors, therapeutic eurythmists and the Portland Branch of the Anthroposophical Society.
Cedarwood is accredited by both AWSNA and NWAIS, and currently serves more than 260 students from early childhood through the eighth grade. Our students benefit from rich, diverse programming that includes Spanish, Japanese, eurythmy, music, practical arts, movement, Cyber Civics, and a middle-school math program. Additionally, we have an educational support team that provides assessment and individual and/or small group academic support for students. We have a strong, collaborative faculty that works hard to support one another and consciously represent Waldorf education to our school community and beyond.
Essential Job Duties
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supports Daily Lesson teachers with behavior management and responds appropriately to individual student needs.
Focused support with Grade 1 for first 6 weeks of school
Plans and executes individual and small-group activities that are developmentally appropriate and correspond with the goals set for individual children
Maintains child behavior observation notes to be used for parent-teacher conferences, year-end reports and assessment completions
Observes and assesses students as needed, and works with the class teacher to create and implement Personal Educational Plans (PEPs)
Maintains complete and accurate child files, forms, and reports within allotted timelines to document and track the needs of children and services provided
Participates in daily playground and recess supervision
Adheres to school’s policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent education/certification
Experience working as an instructional assistant in an elementary school
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Must have a commitment to self-development
Must pass a criminal background check
Workday: 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM when school is in session.
