Job Category:  Early Childhood

Opening Statement

Asheville Waldorf School is seeking an Early Childhood Lead Teacher to join our school faculty starting in July for the 2025-26 school year.

About

Asheville Waldorf School is in its thirteenth school year. In the 2024/25 school year, we are offering multiple parent-child classes, two mixed-age kindergartens, and grades 1–6.

Asheville Waldorf became an associate member of WECAN in 2017 and of AWSNA in 2018. Our organization consists of a cohesive and striving Faculty, a Board of Directors that draws members from both the parent body and the community, a committed Administration (an Administrator, Office Coordinator, Business Manager, and Admissions Director and Assistant), and a loving and involved community of parents and families.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have completed their Waldorf Early Childhood Training and have experience as a teacher in a Waldorf classroom. Teachers new to Waldorf education are also welcome, if they have a serious interest in developing themselves as a Waldorf teacher. We seek teachers with a deep understanding of child development, an interest in Anthroposophy, a love of working with young children, and the enthusiasm and energy to be involved in the growth of a pioneering school.

Employment Details

Asheville is an ideal place to live, well known and visited for its beautiful outdoors (it is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and three National Forests, and at the confluence of two major rivers), its abundance of activity options that come with the landscape and ecosystem, and its rich arts, crafts, and music culture. Asheville’s many restaurants and microbreweries make it a highly sought out tourist destination. Local sustainable agriculture is also a hallmark of this town, which supports seventeen Farmers Markets for less than 100,000 residents. If you like to eat local organic food, participate in public music events (like community chorus), and be immersed in the arts, it is a great place where you will be warmly welcomed.
