Opening Statement

Washington Waldorf School Aftercare Teachers create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment and provide meaningful and engaging experiences to all.

This is an hourly, full-time position, for approximately 30 hours per week in our mixed aged aftercare program, with children ranging in ages from 3-6.  In addition to caring for children during these times, the Aftercare Teacher will also be responsible for aftercare during parent/teacher conference days.

Founded in 1969, Washington Waldorf School operates in the Cabin John/Glen Echo area of Bethesda, MD, just outside of Washington, DC. The school serves 285 students and their families, from ages pre-K through Grade 12. Essential Job Duties

  • Experience working with young children
  • Familiarity or strong interest in Waldorf education
  • Ability to pass a Maryland Background check and meet Maryland Office of Child Care compliance requirements
  • Completion of OCC 90 hour training or equivalent.  WWS provides assistance for the 90 hour course fees.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and training in Waldorf early childhood education are preferred.  Otherwise, we seek an aftercare teacher who has a warm and open disposition, is enthusiastic, energetic and patient, with an ability to care for children of mixed age.

Employment Details

The compensation for this position includes a wage of $24/hour from12:00pm-3:00pm and $36/hour from 3:00pm–6:00pm.  It also comes with our full benefits package which includes health, disability and life insurance; dental reimbursement; retirement plan (after 1 year of employment); optional dental, vision, and illness/accident insurance; professional development support; and tuition remission for the employee’s children attending WWS, as articulated in the Employee Handbook.
