Opening Statement
Ashwood Waldorf School (parent–child through grade 8) in Rockport, Maine, is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, Waldorf-trained class teacher to join our grades faculty beginning Fall 2025.

About
Situated on a beautiful 30-acre hillside campus with views of the nearby Camden Hills, Ashwood is a small, thriving Waldorf school now in its 40th year, serving approximately 80 students. Our grade school building features spacious, light-filled classrooms that open directly to a wooded playground and an extensive trail network
Our faculty is guided by shared commitments: a willingness to grow and develop—both individually and as a school; to work mindfully; to teach creatively and with love; and to nurture a supportive, diverse, and active community. We have a strong in-house mentoring program, and master teachers visit on a regular basis. The Camden/Rockport area hosts ongoing anthroposophical study groups.
Living in Midcoast Maine
Nearby Camden and Rockland harbors are home to windjammers, yachts, and working fishermen. Outdoor enthusiasts will find abundant opportunities for boating, skiing, hiking, and camping. Acadia National Park lies just two hours to the north. The midcoast area enjoys a rich cultural life, with the Rockport and Camden Opera Houses and the Strand Theatre in Rockland offering a wide range of live performances and films. The region also supports a vibrant community of artists, alternative health practitioners, and farms—including several biodynamic farms. Portland and Bangor, with their symphonies, museums, restaurants, and professional theater companies, are both about an hour and a half away.
Essential Job Duties
Within the grade school we have a lower grades (1–4) and an upper grades (5–8) team. All classes are mixed-age, and grade school teachers regularly support one another’s classes.
