Opening Statement

The Association of Waldorf Schools is seeking a detail-oriented Business Manager to oversee our essential business operations. This role is responsible for overseeing all areas of the business including financial management, business operations, payroll, and human resource administration functions. The ideal candidate brings nonprofit experience, strong accounting skills, and the ability to work independently.

Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments, and expense tracking
  • Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely invoicing and collections
  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
  • Prepare and review financial reports (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Support annual budget development and financial planning
  • Coordinate with external accountants and auditors for annual audits and filings
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Process payroll accurately and ensure compliance with tax and labor regulations
  • Manage HR administrative processes, including onboarding and employee records

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting, or accounting (preferred)
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online, payroll systems, and cloud-based financial tools
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance and financial regulations
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage confidential data with discretion
  • Comfortable with remote tools, CRM platforms, and AI-driven systems
