Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork (WSRF) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative Business Administrator to serve as the school’s senior financial and operational leader.

Working under the leadership of the School Director and in close partnership with the Community Development Administrator as part of WSRF’s threefold executive leadership team, the Business Administrator stewards the school’s financial resources, business operations, facilities, personnel systems, and compliance responsibilities. This key executive role bridges high-level financial strategy with operational rigor, ensuring sustainability in service of Waldorf education.

Located on 13 acres at the foot of Mt. Sopris, WSRF serves children and families from early childhood through eighth grade. Essential Job Duties

The Business Administrator oversees all non-pedagogical financial and operational life at WSRF, with focus across several core domains:

  • Executive leadership: translate school priorities into sustainable budgets, staffing plans, and timelines.
  • Financial Operations: monthly financials, annual budget, multi-year forecast, cash-flow projections, and reserve/investment strategy.
  • Remote accounting team: develop, hire, and supervise a bookkeeper. work with CPA firm for annual tax filing and annual review.
  • Internal controls: oversee the general ledger and close process, separation of duties, annual audit, and tax filings.
  • Systems, HR & operations: payroll, benefits, personnel records, vendor management, and operational risk

Qualifications

We are seeking a leader who pairs financial acumen with organizational diplomacy, someone who communicates complex financial realities with transparency,  warmth, and a respect for the underpinnings of Waldorf education.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Substantial nonprofit, school, or similarly complex financial/operational leadership experience.
  • Skills in budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls.
  • Experience supervising remote bookkeeping or accounting professionals.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices, benefits, and organizational compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree or credential preferred.
  • Independent school or Waldorf experience preferred.

Employment Details

Salary: $106,000.00
