Opening Statement
Berkeley Rose Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a full-time first grade class teacher for the 2026/27 academic year. Successful candidates will enthusiastically engage students and work collaboratively with colleagues and the parent community to create an educational environment aligned with Waldorf pedagogy, our school mission and program goals. The ideal candidates will be certified Waldorf teachers, have experience working with children and be committed to collegial work and self-development. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.

An Urban School With Heart: Berkeley Rose Waldorf School is a vibrant, metropolitan school, located in a beautiful walkable neighborhood in Oakland, California. Founded in 2009, our school serves approximately 150 students from Nursery programs through 8th Grade, along with parent-child classes and parent education events for the local community. Essential Job Duties
Areas of Responsibility:
● Take primary responsibility for children in the class (approximately 20 or more
children per class)
● Plan and carry out all areas of curriculum according to Waldorf pedagogy.
● Write narrative reports for the end of the year; rubrics for the mid- and
end-of-the-year
● Lead Parent/Teacher conferences three times per year for each child on
designated days (notes on each conference to be written for the child’s file).
● Host four class meetings (including orientation night) per year for class parents
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in related field
● Adult and Child First Aid/CPR, offered by the school in August
● Waldorf Teacher Training
Employment Details
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Full time position. Benefits offered include health insurance (medical, vision, dental), tuition remission, mentoring and professional development opportunities.
Current class teacher salary is $67 – 71K annually.
