Course Description
This two-part workshop introduces the Waldorf approach to drawing, focusing on four key subjects: humans, animals, nature, and buildings. Student teachers will build foundational skills using beeswax block crayons and chalk for blackboard drawings, exploring form, gesture, and composition through guided exercises.
For 1st–3rd grade: This workshop introduces the Waldorf approach to drawing, focusing on four key subjects: the human form, animals, nature, and buildings. Participants will develop foundational skills using beeswax block crayons and chalk for blackboard drawing, exploring form, gesture, and composition through guided practice.
For 4th–6th grade: This workshop deepens the Waldorf approach to drawing through form drawing, geometry, and mythology, guiding participants to work with line, symmetry, and spatial relationships. You will strengthen your skills using pencils and chalk for blackboard drawing, exploring form, movement, and composition through structured and creative exercises.
Whether you are a class teacher, subject teacher, or homeschooling parent, this course will leave you with practical techniques and renewed confidence in bringing drawing to your students.

About the Instructor
Narsingh Khalsa is a class teacher at the Princeton Waldorf School, where she currently teaches a combined 3rd and 4th grade class. A graduate of Prescott College with a degree in Education, she received her Waldorf teacher training from Sunbridge Institute in New York. Narsingh brings 19 years of experience teaching fine arts to students from 1st through 12th grade and has taught Waldorf arts at Sunbridge Institute as well as Fiber Arts and Puppetry in the Waldorf LifeWays training program in Phoenix. A certified yoga teacher and teacher trainer, she is passionate about creativity and enjoys making children’s books, developing Waldorf curriculum for homeschoolers and teachers, and engaging in handwork.
