Opening Statement
San Francisco Waldorf School seeks a full-time Middle School Math Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–27 school year. This position teaches mathematics in Grades 6, 7, and 8, working with students during a formative period when curiosity, logic, and independent thinking come alive.
The teaching load includes approximately 18 class periods per week. Class periods are 45–50 minutes in length. The middle school math curriculum moves from advanced arithmetic through pre-algebra, culminating in Algebra I by the end of Grade 8, and is taught in a way that balances rigor, imagination, and developmental appropriateness.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with middle-school students in an academic environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in math
- Ability to plan lessons to follow a scope and sequence through Algebra 1
- Experience working with children who may find math challenging
- Patience, compassion, and empathy in dealing with middle school students.
- Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly with relevant examples
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Waldorf teacher certification preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Employment Details
Benefits & Compensation
This is a 1 FTE position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, flexible spending plans, retirement plan (employer contributions after one year of employment), and tuition remission (prorated by FTE) for eligible dependents in our Preschool – Grade 12 program (staff fees apply). The full annual salary range is $67K – $95K, depending on training and experience. Salaries are paid on a 12-month schedule.
