Pedagogical Director
Opening Statement
The Pedagogical Director (PD) is the educational leader of Tucson Waldorf School, overseeing the effective delivery of the Waldorf pedagogy to the students. Working together, the Pedagogical Director and the Administrative Director provide key leadership in carrying out the school’s mission, facilitating collaboration between the Faculty, Board of Directors, Administration and Parent Council. In serving as a liaison between different constituencies within TWS, the PD works to ensure clear communication and upholding of school policies, curriculum standards, and best practices within the school community.
The Pedagogical Director is hired by the College of Teachers, with the addition of a Board and Administration team member. The PD answers solely to the College of Teachers. As a member of the Leadership Council, the PD is responsible for the overall health and safety of the TWS Community.
About
Established in 1993, TWS is an independent Waldorf school serving families from Early Childhood through Grade 8. Our comprehensive programs include parent-child classes, nursery, kindergarten, and grades one through eight. As Arizona’s only full member of both AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and WECAN (Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America), we take pride in providing an education that nurtures the whole child.
Nestled on a picturesque 10-acre campus at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, our school offers an inspiring environment infused with the natural beauty and unique wildlife of the Sonoran Desert. Our faculty and staff are deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous growth, collaboration, and professional development guided by the principles of Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner’s insights into child development. We also prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all aspects of our community.
