The Waldorf School of Garden City is an independent Waldorf school committed to nurturing the intellectual, artistic, and moral growth of each child. We seek a qualified and New York State-certified Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. This is a full-time position that works primarily with our elementary grades.

Essential Job Duties
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in academic interventions and experience supporting a range of learners through both push-in and pull-out models. We are seeking an educator who approaches students with warmth, creativity, and a deep respect for their unique paths of development.
Responsibilities include:

Providing direct academic support and intervention for students in grades 1–8

Collaborating with teachers to design and implement individualized strategies in an inclusive setting

Conducting informal and formal assessments to monitor progress

Maintaining communication with families and faculty regarding student support plans

Participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and school life
Qualifications:

New York State certification in Special Education (required)

Experience in an elementary school setting with both push-in and pull-out support models

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Interest in and openness to learning Waldorf pedagogy and integrating its principles into student support work
Employment Details
The Waldorf School of Garden City offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive compensation, health, life, and disability insurance, as well as a school-funded Health Savings Account (HSA) and retirement plan. Salary range: $55,000–$75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
