Bright Water Waldorf School is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and warm-hearted teacher, committed to the ideals of Waldorf education, who would like to join a vibrant Waldorf community and serve as an assistant preschool teacher. We are a group of dedicated faculty and staff committed to Waldorf principles, mindful land stewardship, and providing our students with opportunities for dynamic learning within an inclusive community.

Bright Water Waldorf School is an independent school serving students Pre-K to 8th grade with a developmentally appropriate, multidisciplinary, experiential, and academically rigorous education that cultivates students’ heads, hands, and hearts. Our home is within the Japanese Cultural Community Center of Washington in Seattle’s Chinatown International District neighborhood. Essential Job Duties
We seek an individual:
- Who nurtures and guides young children through the philosophy of Waldorf Education, love, and warmth
- Who strives to deepen their understanding of DEI work, and Waldorf Education
- Who is interested in collaborating with a colleague to create an environment of joy and belonging for children and their families
- Who maintains general order and cleanliness, and beauty in classroom and play yard
- To assist the lead teacher with daily rhythm and tasks in the classroom
- To assist the lead teacher in preparing the classroom and play yard each day
- To prepare and clean up from daily activities
- To attend Parent/Caregiver Meetings (paid)
- To attend weekly check-in meetings with lead teacher
Qualifications
Required Credentials:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Waldorf teacher certification or willingness to take up and complete the training
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Commitment and energy in working with preschool age children
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
- Commitment to an equitable, anti-racist, and gender-inclusive environment, evaluation of systemic privilege and oppression, and an openness to personal and institutional growth
- Interest in evolving Waldorf curriculum for the 21st Century
- Experience in Waldorf Early Childhood classrooms
- DCYF Childcare Basics (can be completed upon hire)
Employment Details
Location: On campus at Bright Water Waldorf School, 1414 S Weller Street, Seattle, WA 98144
Hours: 8:00am-1:00pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (with the possibility of extending to full day, if the student to teacher ratio increases)
Compensation: $25-$30 /hour, depending on experience
