Movement Teacher
Movement Teacher
Job Category: High School: Grades 9-12, Lower School: Grades 1-5, and Middle School: Grades 6-8
Opening Statement
Join the vibrant and dedicated faculty at Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor as our Movement Teacher for the 2025–26 school year. We’re seeking an enthusiastic physical education teacher to lead a dynamic developmental movement and games program for students in grades 1–12. This role offers flexibility and can be shaped to fit a full-time position or a part-time role focused on either the Lower School or High School.
As a Waldorf school, movement is at the heart of our curriculum; we know how physical education supports academic, social, and personal growth. Games and movement integrate children’s motor skills, develop hand-eye coordination, and are an important way for children to engage in healthy social conflict and comradery with peers.
We ensure our teachers receive support from our dedicated administrative team. Our school bolsters students, teachers, and administrators with a robust curriculum, thoughtfully designed schedules, vibrant festivals, and a culture of collaboration. Offering Spanish and German for grades 1-12, alongside choral and instrumental music programs and robust fine and practical arts, our movement programs enrich our comprehensive educational offerings. Our community embraces global traditions, celebrating festivals such as Rosh Hashanah, Diwali, Day of the Dead, Lunar New Year, and Eid, reflecting our commitment to cultural inclusivity. Faculty members engage in weekly meetings to explore diverse topics, fostering collaborative discussions on pedagogical practices. Our school is looking for a teacher who values authentic relationships, innovation, and a commitment to Diversity, Community & Belonging work. We have an engaged and active faculty and recently worked with Alma Partners to continue to develop our work in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
