Opening Statement

Shining Mountain Waldorf School (SMWS) is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic candidate with Waldorf teacher training for the 2025-2026 school year. SMWS currently has a 1-5 and 6-8 class teacher rotation system. The Middle School Class teacher carries primary responsibility for teaching the middle school curriculum, grades 6-8.  The sixth grade teacher is supported by an experienced team of subject teachers including a math specialist, language arts, cyber civics, art, choir, orchestra, world language and physical education. Restorative practice work throughout the school also supports class health and faculty and staff collaboration.

The teacher leading Grade 6 for the 25-26 school year will continue with their class through 8th grade, with the potential to loop back around to 6th after three years.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS or more advanced degree, is Waldorf-trained or interested in embarking on certification, and has some teaching experience. Familiarity with social health/restorative practices, Waldorf remedial training/experience, and an understanding of place based education are pluses.

SMWS has celebrated over 40 years of bringing Waldorf education to the beautiful community of Boulder, Colorado. The school is fully accredited by both the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS). Additionally, there is an active Anthroposophical community in the Denver/Boulder area.

Boulder is located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, about a 45 minute drive from Denver. It is at the heart of the organic food industry, with an award-winning farmers’ market, and many local organic bakeries and farms. The University of Colorado and numerous local organizations provide a rich variety of arts, lectures and workshops, many of which employ the talents of local community members. The quiet beauty of the natural environment offers contemplative pastimes and a full range of outdoor recreation, including world-class ski areas, and many national parks and forests. 

The parent body is supportive, well informed and involved. Our Board is strong and enjoys a supportive, collaborative relationship with the Faculty. We have a highly competent administrative function with a School Director, Admission Director, Development Director, Human Resources Director, Marketing Director, Campus Operations Director, and Business Director.

Employment Details

We offer a competitive Waldorf-trained base salary, along with years of experience.  Our base salary for Waldorf Trained teachers is $53,725 and years of teaching experience paid at $850 per year. SMWS has an excellent benefit package including medical, dental, vision, long term disability, life insurance, 401(k), and flexible spending accounts.
