Opening Statement

City of Lakes Waldorf School is seeking to hire a full time Business Manager. This position brings focus to all financial matters of the school’s operations and advises the Administration and Board of Trustees in the areas of day-to-day financial operation of the school. The Business Manager works collaboratively with all other constituents of the school.

Founded in 1988, City of Lakes Waldorf School is an established independent school serving 225 students from Early Childhood through Grade 8. The school is located in the International Whittier neighborhood on “Eat Street” two blocks from The Minneapolis Museum of Arts and Fair Oaks Park. Our experienced and creative faculty, led by the College of Teachers, is dedicated to excellence in Waldorf education and the development of curriculum to reflect our diverse, urban community.  Our school celebrated its 35th year in 2024 and is currently implementing a strategic plan for the future. Our Board of Trustees and talented and dedicated parent community support our 50 full- and part-time members of the faculty and administrative staff. City of Lakes Waldorf School is a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).

Essential Job Duties

The Business Manager is responsible for managing daily financial activities including budget preparation and control, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and business planning and management. The Business Manager ensures compliance with school policies and procedures and state and federal regulations, oversees health and liability insurance programs, and manages and administers employee benefit programs and costs.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, 5 years of experience in a similar position. Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, 10 years of experience within a school, and familiarity with Waldorf education are preferred. Employment Details

Compensation for this position is $55-65K annually, depending on experience. Full-time staff members enjoy generous benefits that include health, retirement and tuition remission.
