Kindergarten Assistant 25/26 Full-Time
Opening Statement
Prairie Hill Waldorf School is taking applications for a full-time Kindergarten Assistant. Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience. The assistant will work collaboratively within the Early Childhood department and the Lead class teacher. We seek a candidate who is committed to the values of Waldorf education, who is joyful and warm, with strong interpersonal communication skills, effective classroom management, and enthusiasm for teaching and learning.

Nestled in the heart of lake country on 14 acres of beautiful land, Prairie Hill Waldorf School is located in Pewaukee, Wisconsin which is between the bustling city of Milwaukee and the state capital Madison. Both cities are known for being ethnically and culturally diverse with a rich festival life, award winning restaurants, sports events, entertainment and many shopping opportunities.
As a vibrant, growing K-8 school, Prairie Hill takes pride in investing in their community and faculty. The school continues to pursue ways to make Waldorf education accessible to every child. In 2018-19, the school became a CHOICE school allowing families who qualify the ability to receive free tuition.
Essential Job Duties
Duties will include:
-Assist with the smooth running of the program.
-Carry logistical aspects of the morning, i.e. mixing paints, kneading dough, washing dishes, dressing the children for outdoors, helping with the bathroom.
-Help with puppet plays, in daily set-up and clean-up, with craft projects and on the playground.
-Substitute for the teacher when needed.
Qualifications
Personal and Professional development:
-Strive to be worthy of imitation by the young child.
-Maintain appropriate personal appearance and professional attire.
-Participate in the annual self-evaluation and evaluation process as defined by school policy.
-Maintain current CPR/1st Aid certification as required
-Complete required trainings
Employment Details
Terms of the position:
• 7:30-4:00 pm 30-minute unpaid break
• Rate of pay starts at $16.50 an hour and is based on education and experience
• Employment is limited to the weeks that school is in session (August- May).
• You will not be expected to work or be paid when there are school closings due to holidays, snow days, half days, teacher professional development days.
