Housatonic Valley Waldorf School recently announced that it was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Petit Family Foundation to purchase musical instruments and equipment for its music education program. The school is also celebrating its 34th anniversary! 

Like in all Waldorf schools, music is a vital part of the K-8 curriculum -- beginning with singing at a young age, followed by recorder playing along with exposure to several instruments such as lyres, woodwinds, and ukulele. The formal strings program begins in third grade at the school and culminates in playing in the orchestra.
