Adding time for dance, theater, or visual arts isn’t at odds with traditional measures of academic success. Giving students more access to the arts offers measurable benefits.

With ongoing pressure to raise test scores, some schools are tempted to  eliminate arts to carve out more time for the Three Rs in curriculum. Studies like this one show why time for the arts should not be sacrificed when seeking stronger academic results.
