Equal Opportunity Employment & Reasonable Accommodations

The Waldorf School of Garden City is committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity and complies with all federal, state and local laws concerning discrimination. It is the School’s policy to afford equal employment opportunity to all qualified employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, sex/gender, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, age, alienage, citizenship, creed, or any other category protected by federal, state or local laws. This policy requires non-discrimination in all employment decisions including, but not limited to, those relating to recruitment, selection, and hiring, training, inclusion in work-related communications, discipline, promotions, transfers, employee compensation, benefits and terminations. In addition, employees are required to act in a non-discriminatory manner in all contacts with non-employees (including, for example, tenants, suppliers, contractors and visitors), and the School also expects non-employees doing business with the School to act in a non-discriminatory manner.

The School complies with all applicable requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other laws pertaining to disability, including applicable state and local laws. The School is committed to reasonably accommodating qualified individuals with disabilities. When an employee needs an accommodation of a disability, the goal is to enable the person to perform the essential functions of the job and enjoy benefits of and privileges of employment, unless doing so would cause the School undue hardship.

The School also complies with all applicable laws prohibiting discrimination based on religion. Sometimes, our responsibility not to discriminate involves providing a reasonable accommodation to a person who has a particular religious practice. Additionally, the School will provide a reasonable accommodation to employees who are victims or whose family members are victims of domestic violence, sexual offenses, or stalking if necessary to ensure security and safety.

For an employee to request an accommodation, they should contact their supervisor, the School Administrator, or Director of Finance.
