About

Founded in 1971, the Waldorf School of Baltimore is an independent, coeducational day school serving students from preschool through grade 8. Rooted in the 8 principles of Waldorf education and guided by the developmental needs of the child, WSB nurtures intellect, imagination, and spirit through an arts-integrated curriculum that balances rigorous academics with hands-on, heart-centered learning.

With 180 to 200 students and 45 faculty and staff members, WSB is fully accredited by AIMS and the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and is a full member of WECAN. The school is recognized as both a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School and a MAEOE Certified Sustainable Green School.

Our campus, nestled in a quiet, tree-lined corner of North Baltimore, features gardens, outdoor classrooms- including Baltimore City’s only Forest Kindergarten – and direct access to wooded trails, creating a living landscape for learning and a welcoming space for community.

Essential Job Duties

Responsibilities and tasks: The Class Teacher is responsible for:

Covering up to 24 periods per week.

  • 16-20 Teaching periods
  • Other scheduled periods may include recess, early arrival, story/rest, committee meetings, or mentoring

A mentor is provided for the 2 years of a teacher joining the Waldorf School of Baltimore.

Qualifications

Experience, knowledge, and skills needed:

  1. Required. Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  2. Required. Understanding of and willingness to develop and work from an understanding of the Eight AWSNA Principles for Waldorf Schools.
  3. Required. Teaching experience, preferably in a Waldorf School, demonstrated effective classroom management and teaching skills. Required
  1. The commitment and dedication to take up the work to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the school on an individual and collective basis.
  1. Willingness and able to engage in ongoing professional development in Waldorf training, workshops, and other professional development opportunities. Required
  2. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with students, parents, colleagues, and visitors.
  3. Required. Waldorf Teacher Training or able to take up teacher training.
