Essential Job Duties

Job Duties:

  • Set up resting areas (mats, blankets, tents)
  • Supervision of preschool and kindergarten children, indoors and outdoors
  • Assist children with toileting and clothing changes
  • Provide Aftercare, including snack preparation and leadership of the program (supported by EC Class Teachers)
  • Help maintain the EC space; care for materials and environment 
  • Communicate regularly with EC Class Teachers
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Participate in professional development 
  • Other duties as described by EC class teachers 

Qualifications

We seek an individual who:

  • Enjoys building healthy relationships with parents, students, and colleagues
  • Has excellent teaching, classroom management, and communication skills 
  • Possesses a deep understanding of students, their development, learning styles, and needs
  • Is self-directed, creative, artistic, and collaborative, as well as knowledgeable of and committed to Waldorf education and Anthroposophy
  • Strives to deepen their understanding of DEI work

Required Credentials:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher 
  • Waldorf teacher certification or willingness to take up and complete the training
  • DCYF Childcare Basics, CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens, Food Handlers Card, and Fingerprinting/Background Check (if not already acquired, these are to be completed before first day of school)

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Commitment to and energy for working with early childhood aged students
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Commitment to an equitable, anti-racist, and gender-inclusive environment, evaluation of systemic privilege and oppression, and an openness to personal and institutional growth
  • Interest in evolving the Waldorf curriculum for the 21st Century

Employment Details

Location: On campus at Bright Water Waldorf School, 1414 S Weller Street, Seattle, WA 98144.

Hours: This is a .825 FTE position. The hours of the day are 11am-6pm M-F. This includes time for set up and clean up.

Compensation: $36,531-$66,592.97, based on level of education, experience (salary schedule for transparency), plus benefits.
